One Thing Conference

Hey Guys!

Yeah, this blog entry is about the One Thing Conference. I know, Christmas happened and all but One Thing was a million bazillion times better than Christmas! Let me explain:

The Trip there:
So yeah, 24 hours. A lot of time to spend in a car my friend. But I had taken the long trip to KC before, but this time we had the youth pastors children with us. Which to you may sound like a bad thing, but you don’t know them. It actually made the ride shorter. We played 20 Questions with the little electronic thinger like a million times. We stumped it a few times. I still can’t believe we stumped it with Q-Tip! Lol

The Conference:
Yeah it was in this huge place called Bartle Hall. HUUUUUUUGE BUILDING! Like Football Stadium Big you may be thinking? No, no, my friend. Think bigger. MUCH Bigger! So anyways it was really big! Jason Upton, Misty Edwards, Luke Wood, Merchant Band, Justin Rizzo and Eddie James did the worship. Let me tell you, IT WAS AWESOME! I don’t know how I’m gonna go back to the PIPs tomorrow. There were a ton of speakers but Lou Engle was awesome. He goes, “Oh, I’ve only got 5 minutes left.” And I’m like “WHAT?! He’s been preaching a whole hour?! It feels like it’s only been a few minutes!” Yes my friend. It was that good. Oh another thing, you know how I said Bartle Hall was so huge? Imagine running across it 8 times. Yeah that was me. I was looking for a Coke Machine that wasn’t empty. I was running back and forth and all of them were empty cause there was a ton of people at the conference. The little food shops had them but they were $2.75 there! I finally bought a Dr. Pepper at a Hot Dog stand across the street. Then I was satisfied and happy.

The Call:
I’d heard about several Calls (like the one in Nashville for instance) for a long time, where you fast and pray the whole day, but I’d never been to one. In this case, The Call was on the 31st, so it was 12pm to 12am. I have to admit, at some points it got boring, but at other parts it was awesome. The last thing they had at The Call was Jason Upton leading us into the New Year. Jason Upton is usually really serious, so I was totally surprised when he broke out in two songs he wrote with his kids called “Where the Wild Things are” and “Yes Yes Yes.” Then all of a sudden it was 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! Then a few minutes later, we left. We begged our parents to take us to Cici’s Pizza, but they protested it wasn’t open. So much for that.

Other stuff:
While I was out there, I drank a lot of Dr. Pepper. Like WAY too much. I got kinda addicted to it. He he.

On the way back, I tried to sing a song with the state name of the state we were in currently. For example, we were in Ohio, so I started singing:

Ohio has the flavor of a watered chestnut
It’s not too crazy and it’s not the best but
We’re not setting forest fires just out of boredom
I’d rather see a movie if in fact I can afford one

Couldn’t think of one for Pennsylvania, till I was not in Pennsylvania. Then I thought of:

Walk down the streets of PA, and you may see her
Go up to her and say you’re a believer

Yes yes yes, both Relient K I know. But I love Relient K lots.

Also, we drove past some place called Fox Run Vineyards or somethings so I was like “GASP JON!!”

{pictures old English guy with eyepiece}

I’m sorry maam, but this elegantly arranged and private establishment has no association whatsoever with a Mr. Jonathan Steingard.

Hee hee.

Cheese, Ang
