The state of confusion (aka New Jersey)

Hey guys, I haven't blogged in a while.

So yeah, you may have heard something like I won tickets to see Switchfoot on the Music Builds Tour, and yes, the rumors are true. Let me explain,...

Jesus Freak Hideout (www.jesusfreakhideout.com) currently has a contest up where they are giving away two free tickets for everyone of the remaining "Music Buids Tour" dates. So I entered the contest for the New Jersey date, thinking, "Oh yeah. I probably won't win. If I do, I'll find a way to get there." blah blah blah

Okay long story short, I won. I freaked out. And by some miracle, my dad agreed to drive me to New Jersey. I was sooooo excited, that is, until we got lost.

New Jersey has the smallest little street signs and a 5-way intersection like every two miles. We got so lost, I was freaking out to my mom on my cell and I was unsure at one point that we were gonna find this place period. Thankfully, I saw a small sign no bigger than one foot long that said "Box Office" and it pointed right. If I hadn't saw that, we probably would've missed part of the show.

We picked up our tickets at the Will-Call window, and to my surprise, we had seats inside the ampitheatre. This place was a lot like SPAC except smaller. It was a great view. We were right in the middle and everything.

As I went to the merch table, I saw something unusual. All this merch for the band "Red." And I'm thinking, "Weird. Red's not on the Music Builds Tour." Turns out, they were doing the pre-show, and my advice, DONT SEE THEM LIVE. EVER. Unless you're into screamo. It was awful. I held my ears.

Jars of Clay was, meh, decent. I'm not really a big JOC fan. Robert Randolph, incredible. In the middle of their set, everyone in their band got up and switched instruments. And all played with the same quality! They were soooo awesome!

Then the main event, for me anyway, Switchfoot. I swear, 80% of the crowd was just there for Switchfoot. A lot of people got up and left after their set. I felt bad for Third Day.

Switchfoot was beyond incredible live. This was their setlist:

Stars
Oh! Gravity
Crazy in Love/Gone
This Is Your life
American Dream
We Are One Tonight/ Shadow Proves the Sunshine
On Fire
Awakening
Dare You to Move
Meant to Live
(thanks www.landofbrokenhearts.com)

The ones where there's a slash means it's a mashup (in and out of both songs). It was so great, but wayyy too short. I mean come on, 10 songs?! Sheesh.

Third Day was up next, and I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. They put on a REALLY great show. Mac Powell was sooo funny too.

But anyway, I suppose the point of this blog is, don't go to New Jersey. Ever. It's not a very nice place.

Leona Lewis is....emo?!

Hey guys, haven't updated in forever. Yeah, but that's the way it normally is, huh?

School has started again, ugh. I have a World Literature Test to finish from last year, double ugh. Goodbye to Summer 2008. It was awesome, amazing, spifftacular (my new word, you like?), etc.

I went to Great Escape with the Snoopians. Well, actually, a lot of the Snoopians couldn't come, so it was just me, Becka, Jenson, Luke, John, Hannah, Sam L., and Lydia. It was still a wicked good time though. I conquered my fear of rollercoasters. Never knew I had a fear of rollercoasters? Well, I'll tell you the story...

*flash back mode* jk

When I was 8, I went on a rollercoaster at Worlds of Fun called The Orient Express *thunder*. I remember being so excited I was finally 48 inches tall and I could ride it. Long story short, it traumatized me for life.

*back to real life*

So John was like "Come on! You have to conquer your fears! Once you go on one, you'll love it, then you'll wanna go on another, and another,...." I was like "Yeah right." I figured I'd go on the Comet to say I conquered my fear and that was it. No Steaming....Donut, No Boomerang, and absolutely NO TORNADO! That was one ride I looked at pictures of and was like No way.

Long story short, heres my ride tally:

Comet: 3 times
Steaming...Donut: 2 times
Boomerang: 2 times
Mega Wedgie: 1 time (it was dumb)
Tornado:.....7 TIMES

Yeah the one ride I said I wouldn't go on I went on 7 times. Who knew, John was right.

Oh yeah, and the reason for the title of this blog. While Sam and Lydia were in the bathroom, "Bleeding Love" came on, and John started mocking singing it while pretending to cut his wrists. It was really funny.

Yeah well, a lot more happened, but it would take waaaay too much space to list it all.
